HFHS Student Brought Gun To School: Police
A 16-year-old boy has been charged in an incident where he is accused of bringing a stolen gun to Homewood-Flossmoor High School.

FLOSSMOOR, IL - A Homewood-Flossmoor High School student brought a gun to school earlier this month and was charged with the alleged incident two weeks later after another student told police about it, according to Flossmoor Police Department Deputy Chief Tod Kamleiter.
Flossmoor police charged the student, a 16-year-old boy, with possession of a firearm - less than 18 years old, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of a firearm on school property, Kamleiter said. The gun, a small caliber semi automatic handgun, was found at the boy's Homewood home. It had been reported stolen out of Matteson.
"There was no threat made, nor was there any indication there were intentions to harm anyone," Kamleiter said.

The deputy chief said the student who reported seeing the gun "on the person" of the 16-year-old on Feb. 2 told police about it two weeks later, after the shooting that killed 17 students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida "heightened awareness."
The guardians of the boy who was charged assisted police in finding the gun, Kamleiter said. No one else will be charged in connection to the incident.
