Hillcrest HAWKS Students Visit Christ Hospital

The HAWKS delivered blankets they made for pediatric cancer patients

Recently, eight HAWKS students (Have hope, Act with integrity, Work together, Keep on task, and Show respect), along with Mr. Kali Gooden and Dr. Shanyta Russell visited the Hope Pediatric Oncology Unit at Advocate Christ Medical Center. The Hillcrest students delivered 10 handmade fleece blankets to children of all ages facing pediatric cancers. The HAWKS students were provided a tour of Christ Medical Center’s Keyser Family Pediatric Cancer Center’s treatment and day rooms. Children of all ages receive pediatric-tailored care at center. The Keyser Family Pediatric Cancer Center is a designed exclusively for pediatric oncology patients, and provides a bright and uplifting atmosphere focused on healing, recovery and quality of life. The visit allowed the students to see first-hand what a treatment center looks like and how the children get the medical care they need. To find out more about the HAWKS program, contact Dr. Russell at srussell@bhsd228.com.
