Hillcrest HS Honors Those Affected by Cancer

Key Club members created personalized luminaries

Hillcrest Key Club members spent hours personalizing and creating glowing luminaries to remember loved ones who lost their battle with cancer, are still fighting this disease, and the survivors. Key Club is an international student-led organization which provides its members with opportunities to provide service, build character, and develop leadership.

“I came up with the idea of selling luminary bags in honor or in memory of all those affected by cancer, past and present. The Key Club members put their heart and soul into this special project,” said Ms. Amy Trench, Key Club Sponsor. Each bag was exclusively personalized with a loved one’s name and a special message to remember these courageous individuals. The luminaries are being beautifully displayed in a darkened area on the cafeteria stage this week to remember all the lives affected by all forms of this relentless disease.
