Hillcrest HS Mathletes Working Hard
Mathletes practicing for hours each week to sharpen skills

The Hillcrest High School Mathletes have been practicing for hours each week to sharpen their mathematical skills. The team competes each month against area schools. “They compute, evaluate, and analyze well beyond the mathematics curriculum of the State,” said Coach Bob Valiska. The team of 45 students spends hours engaging in complex mathematical problems. “They are functioning well above their peers from other schools,” said Valiska. The team is coached by Mr. Robert Fantozzi, Mr. Matthew Peccia, and Mr. Robert Valiska, all hardworking math teachers at Hillcrest High School. They are looking forward to competing at the Regional competition in February and at the State competition in May. “We have many students that have the aptitude to compete and win at the Conference level,” said Valiska. “I’m looking forward to coaching this team and to see where they finish their season!” To find out more about Hillcrest Mathletes, contact Head Coach Bob Valiska at Rvaliska@bhsd228.com.
