Hillcrest HS Poms Headed to State!

First time in school history that Poms have qualified for State competition

Congratulations to the Hillcrest High School Poms Team as they prepare for State competition this week. On January 24, the Hillcrest Poms Team competed at Eisenhower High School at the class 1A Sectional competition. The team performed their routine to a Beyoncé themed Hip Hop dance. “Our team worked hard to prepare for this competition; we have a talented team and the girls give 100 percent,” said Head Coach Michelle Youngberg. “The girls knew how important it was to stay focused at practice as well as continuing to condition every week. It took dedication, which paid off in the end. I’m extremely proud of every girl.”

This is the first time that the Hillcrest Poms have qualified for the State tournament! The team consists of Leah Booker, Passion Dyer, Teria Halsell, Kennedy Harris, Karina Ingram, Tatiyana Mason, and Aurielle Taylor. They are coached by Mrs. Youngberg and Ms. Rebecca Haustein.

Congratulations to the Hillcrest Poms team as well as their coaches! The State qualifying Hawks will be competing Friday, January 30, at the IHSA competition held at Illinois State University.
