Hillcrest HS Students Make Blankets for Homeless Shelter

Students attend training to help prevent abuse in children and then make blankets for a shelter

Hillcrest “parenting” students had the opportunity to attend a training designed to help prevent sexual abuse in children. The students came away with the knowledge and resources to better protect children against sexual abusers. “I’m excited for the students to participate in such a unique opportunity. Each person that is educated, helps at least 10 children in the future,” stated Ms. Ashley Gerber, Hillcrest High School Family and Consumer Science teacher. Once they finalized the training, the students worked together with other schools to create fleece blankets for Daybreak Homeless Shelter in Joliet. “The cheerful blankets will be given to the children to brighten up their day,” said Gerber.
