Hillcrest HS Students Participate in 'First Judge' Program

Students worked during recent elections

On November 4, approximately 92 Hillcrest students worked for the Cook County Board of Elections through their “First Judge” program. This program allows high school juniors and seniors, with a GPA higher than 3.0, to participate as student election judges during the various elections conducted by the county. Over 100 students applied and 92 were selected from the communities of Country Club Hills, Hazel Crest, and Markham. Students were trained and placed in precincts throughout the south suburbs. Hillcrest students have been serving as judges for the past seven years and have continued to serve after graduation. “Our goal is to promote lifelong voters,” replied, Ms. Caroline Snyder, teacher and election recruiter for the school. Thank you to Ms. Snyder and the Hillcrest students for giving back to our community.
