Hillcrest HS's Family Reading Night to Host Michael Jennings

Former NFL Player to discuss his new book

Guests at Hillcrest’s Family Reading Night on October 2 will share author Michael Jennings’ journey of self-understanding as he discusses his new book, Road to the Hall of Fame … More Than I Expected. Jennings, who played as a wide receiver with both the NFL and the American Football Association, retired after a career ending injury. He was inducted as an AFA Hall of Famer in 2005. His book, released in February of this year, documents the “painful injuries and unexpected challenges” he encountered as a player and seeks to motivate and inspire today’s generation. This free event, open to the community, will take place in the Hillcrest High School library from 6:30 to 8pm. Jennings’ book will be available for purchase that evening.

Road to the Hall of Fame documents some issues from the author’s personal experiences, but according to Jennings his book also promotes the core principle of acquiring good values that affect all aspects of life. “My book is for the classroom, boardroom, training room, and family room.” Not limiting his message to his book alone, Jennings carries his message on life lessons into his additional roles as motivational speaker and Chicagoland TV show host.

“Our students and their families are in for an exceptional treat” says Media Specialist Lisa Walsh. “Mr. Jennings is a lively, high energy speaker anxious to impart worthwhile messages to young people. I’m certain they’re going to enjoy his visit.”
