A house collapsed in an explosion in the wee hours of Sunday morning in Hazel Crest. All four walls of a house in the 16800 block of Orchard Ridge were blown out in the 2:30 a.m. blast and a small fire started. No one has lived in the home for a while, according to neighbors. Nicor shut off the gas to the house and checked the neighborhood for leaks.
"I was just sitting there watching television and next thing you know I heard a boom," neighbor Corey Coark told NBC Chicago. "I looked through the kitchen window and I see a ball of fire, I ran to the front door to see what was going on and I looked next door and the whole house was to the ground."
