Interventional Cardiologist Joins Ingalls, Flossmoor & Crestwood
Performs Angioplasty with Wrist Access, Stents, Atherectomy and Thrombectomy to Treat Heart Disease

Interventional and nuclear cardiologist Imad Ahmado, M.D., is now seeing patients at Ingalls in Flossmoor and Crestwood.
Dr. Ahmado specializes in cardiovascular diseases, interventional cardiology and nuclear cardiology. He completed his training at some of the most prestigious medical schools and hospitals in the nation, including Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital, Tufts University School of Medicine/Lahey Clinic and Michigan State University, where he served as chief cardiology fellow.
Dr. Ahmado’s clinical interests include the use of novel devices for treatment of coronary artery disease, non-coronary cardiac interventions such as percutaneous valve replacement, drug-eluting stent studies and innovative imaging technologies. He is skilled at performing a full array of diagnostic and interventional techniques, including angioplasty (both groin and wrist access), stent deployment, rotational and directional atherectomy, intravascular ultrasound, optical coherence tomography, and mechanical thrombectomy for the treatment of coronary artery disease. Other clinical interests include atrial fibrillation, congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease, echocardiography, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, microvascular disease and stress testing.

Dr. Ahmado earned his medical degree from the University of Aleppo School of Medicine and completed an internal medicine residency at Cook County Hospital. He went on to perform fellowships at some of the nation’s leading medical institutions, including an interventional cardiology fellowship at Tufts, a cardiology fellowship at Michigan State University, and a nuclear cardiology fellowship at Harvard, where he also performed a post-doctoral cardiology research fellowship.
In addition, Dr. Ahmado is a noted researcher and author, and has published in several professional journals and authored book chapters on heart-related research and treatment. He holds memberships in the American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology, American Medical Association and American College of Physicians. Dr. Ahmado is certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Medicine, the American Board of Internal Medicine and the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology.
