Being unable to help your children when they need it is a crumby feeling for any mom or dad. Yet a growing number of parents are reporting they regularly struggle to help their children with homework. In fact, in a recent online survey, nearly half of responding parents indicated they have trouble keeping up with their child's homework. And that could be a problem.
Just why parents are unable to handle the homework is a bit of a mixed bag. In many cases, they just don't feel they have the time to work through and explain the assigned problems. About 22% of responding parents said time restrictions kept them from doing more to help their student with schoolwork.
Other parents say their students don't want or won't accept their help. Just under 32% of parents in the same survey said their children will avoid or directly speak out against parental assistance on their homework. Click here to read more
