Lions Club Pool to be Re-bedded
Plus a mold remediation and a t-shirt contract for the H-F Park District.

We take a look at some of the items approved and discussed at the April 19 Board of Commissioners meeting.
The request: Approve the bid from Mold Solutions of Chicago in the amount of $11,430 for mold remediation and reconstruction in the Discovery Center at .
What this means: The Discovery Center at has had water issues since its construction was completed, according to Manager Cheryl Vargo. As a result of the water seepage problems at the center, mold has ensued. This contract should alleviate the mold problem.

Vote: Unanimous, yes.

The request: Approval for the re-bedding of the large pool at not to exceed $12,247.80.
Quotes: “We initially thought we’d do it after the season, but we have a window here where we can get in before we begin to fill the pool, which we think is going to save us money,” Superintendent of Parks and Planning Doug Boehm.
Vote: Unanimous, yes.

The request: Approve the 2011-2012 t-shirt proposal from Sunburst Sportswear.
What this means: According to Superintendent of Recreation Tracey Anderson, the Park District creates some 2,500 t-shirts are ordered each year. Sunburst Sportswear, the district’s current contract-holder was the lowest of four bidders for the contract.
Vote: Unanimous, yes.

Executive Director Debbie Kopas also announced, at the end of the meeting, that the Park District received a certificate of achievement in financial reporting for the 26th year in a row.
“Even though it’s happened 25 years in a row, its still something to be proud of when it happens a 26th year, so congratulations to the Business Department for that,” said Commissioner Patrick Nevins.
