Local nursing assistant recognized by Advocate South Suburban Hospital

South Holland, Ill. resident, Suliyat Adebisi, was recently honored as Advocate South Suburban Hospital’s Comprehensive Unit Based Safety Program (CUSP) winner for April. Adebisi, a certified nursing assistant (CNA), was recognized for her efforts to create a safe, compassionate patient environment.

Advocate South Suburban Hospital’s CUSP initiative grew from an interdisciplinary hospital taskforce seeking ways to increase responsiveness to call lights and decrease patient falls.

“We are very proud of Suliyat, and she deserves recognition for following through on our promise to provide the best possible care and service to our patients” said Vivienne Ogbomoh, RN, Adebisi’s manage in the hospital’s skilled nursing facility. “Rewarding associates like Suliyat drives home our commitment to patient safety.”

Programs at Advocate South Suburban Hospital such as CUSP have driven continual improvements in quality, safety and service. Recently, the hospital was honored with an “A” Hospital Safety Score by The Leapfrog Group, based on patient injuries, medical and medication errors, and infections.

olor:#404040'>The Safety Scores are based on performance measures from the Leapfrog Hospital Survey, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).  These measures produce a single score representing a hospital’s overall performance in keeping patients safe from preventable harm and medical errors.
