LWV-HF-Area Honors 50+ Year Members

The Homewood-Flossmoor Area League of Women Voters recently celebrated its 85th anniversary at its Annual Meeting held at the Flossmoor Country Club. Four fifty-plus-year members were recognized and honored during the meeting. They included Patricia Paulsen (Flossmoor), and Maureen Milord (Homewood) who attended and were presented with gifts, and sixty-year member Barbara Graves (Olympia Fields) and Mary Woodland (Homewood), a fifty-four year member.  Margaret "Peg" Boivin, Homewood, was introduced as the newest fifty-year member.

Senator Toi Hutchinson, 40th District, was the guest speaker and presented a meaningful message about her personal experience in her work and education and related it to the importance of the League and participation of citizens in the preservation of democracy in our communities.  She stressed the importance of being informed and involved in our local governments.

The 2014-15 officers of the Homewood-Flossmoor League are Erin Roeper and Syvia Tillman, co-presidents, Barbara Hayes, vice-president, Karen Maurer, secretary, and Donna Moore, treasurer.  Members of the Board of Directors include Peg Boivin, Sharon Cooper, Mary Emily Grant, Yvette Harris-Black, Maureen McSherry, Chris Schmitt, and Margaret Smith.
