Marian Catholic High School Sophomore Dies After Accidentally Shooting Self

The 15-year-old accidentally shot himself in the head.

A 15-year-old Marian Catholic High School student died Thursday after he accidentally shot himself in the head while using FaceTime with a friend.

Blake Hannett, of Lynwood, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Thursday night after a gun accidentally went off, ABC7 reports.

Blake was talking with a friend via video chat, when the friend said the screen went blank. Police were called to a home in the 2700 block of Lake Park Drive, and found the teen at his desk with the .38 caliber handgun on the floor beneath his chair, according to the report. It’s believed the gun went off as he set it down.

The high school posted a message on its website Friday morning.
