Homewood to Stock Up on Salt
Trustees Tuesday will consider spending $121,000 for additional salt and liquid calcium chloride to keep Homewood streets safer to travel in winter weather.
Don't panic, Homewood. More salt could soon be on its way. Trustees Tuesday will consider spending $121,000 of Homewood's Motor Fuel Tax funds to replenish its supply.
Village Manager Jim Marino recently warned that a particularly harsh winter has put a much bigger dent in Homewood’s salt supply than anticipated, and that what's left would be used sparingly and in priority areas.
Intersections and roads with inclines would be tended to, while side streets would not be getting much attention, Marino cautioned.

“It’s not just us, it’s all municipalities,” Marino said, of the salty situation.

Three New Businesses in HomewoodTrustees will consider special use permits for several new businesses—including a fitness center, a health food store, and a barber shop/salon.
- Personal training fitness and wellness center Reconstructured Fitness would be located at 18400 Governors Highway.
- Mary's Health Hut—a health food store—is set to be located at 2024 Ridge Road.
- A new barber shop/spa would be built at 17540 Dixie Highway.
