Movie Discussion

Saturday, June 14, 7:00 pm

We are showing the movie "The Matchmaker." Doors open at 7:00 pm. Movie
starts at 7:30 pm. Arik, a teenage boy growing up in Haifa in 1968,
gets a job working for Yankele Bride, a matchmaker. Yankele, a
mysterious Holocaust survivor, has an office in back of a movie theater
that shows only love stories, run by a family of seven Romanian dwarfs
in the seedy area by the port. Yankele introduces Arik to a new world,
built on the ruins of an old one. Avi Nesher's latest film mixes comedy
with drama as it tells a coming-of-age story unlike any you've ever seen
before. A discussion will follow, facilitated by Suzanne Patterson.
Refreshments will be served; $10.00 per person. RSVP to BYBS, 1424 W.
183rd St., Homewood IL, 708-799-4110, office@bybs.org or pay at the door. This event is
open to the public.
