South Suburban Genealogical and Historical Society presents OAK FOREST HOSPITAL by Rochelle Lurie
Oak Forest Hospital
Located at 159th and Cicero the Oak Forest Hospital served as a poor house and tuberculosis sanitarium. From 1910 to 1971 it housed the mentally ill, the sick and the indigent of Cook County. When they died, many residents were buried on the grounds. Rochelle Lurie will be discussing the history of this institution located in the South suburbs.
