Olympia Fields Womans Group Supports Breast Cancer Awareness
Local United Women in Faith members promote Breast Cancer Awareness ahead of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Local members of United Women in Faith, met at Olympia Fields United Methodist Church (OFUMC) on Saturday, September 21, 2024, to join in with global breast cancer awareness efforts. United Women in Faith is a faith-based organization that works to improve the lives of women, children and youth. Members of the local group that met at OFUMC live in over 10 surrounding communities including Homewood, Hazel Crest, Midlothian and Chicago Heights. They met to bring awareness to the signs and symptoms of breast cancer and to promote early detection. Over 100 breast cancer awareness pins were assembled ahead of Breast Cancer Awareness Month which is celebrated in October and is also known as Pinktober. Pins will be worn to bring awareness to a disease that the National Breast Cancer Foundation estimates over 360,000 people will be diagnosed with in 2024. The local United Women in Faith offers community and support to Breast Cancer survivors, patients and their loved ones.
