Park Forest Area League of Women Voters Hosts Meeting on Illinois Health Reform Issues
The
League of Women Voters of the Park Forest Area will host a meeting on
Implementation of the Affordable Care Act in Cook County and Illinois and
Health System Reform Initiatives on Wednesday, May 21, at 7:00 PM at the Park
Forest Public Library, 400 Lakewood Boulevard in Park Forest.
The speaker will be David Carvalho, who is a deputy director for the Illinois Department of
Public Health, overseeing the Office of Policy, Planning and Statistics.
He is also chair of the Board of the Cook County Health and Hospitals
System. Carvalho will discuss the status of ACA implementation in
Illinois, including CountyCare, Medicaid expansion and the Health Insurance
Exchange, the "Alliance for Health" system reform initiative, the
Section 1115 Waiver Application, and other Public Health initiatives.
The meeting
is open to the public and anyone interested in the topic is encouraged to
attend to learn more about how the Affordable Care Act is being implemented in
Illinois.
