Parking Restriction Signs Going Up In Homewood

Signs limiting parking to one side of the street on narrow streets are being installed in Homewood this week.

HOMEWOOD, IL -- Signs have now been installed to mark the result of an amended parking ordinance in Homewood that deals with parking on streets that are less than 20 feet in width. Parking on those streets is now restricted to only one side of the street.

Thirteen streets in the village are affected by the change, which was enacted by the Homewood Village Board on June 14. While the signs have begun going up in those locations this week, Homewood police plan on waiting an additional 30 days before any enforcement will take place.

The amended ordinance reads: "On those streets less than 20 feet in width, when signs are in place giving notice, vehicles shall only be parked on one side of the street, as designated by the sign giving said notice."
