Voters In Flossmoor Want Pickup Truck Restrictions Lifted
Flossmoor residents voted overwhelmingly in favor of allowing pickup trucks to be parked outside of garages.

FLOSSMOOR, IL - Voters in Flossmoor said "yes" to an advisory referendum on the ballot Tuesday seeking input on whether the village should life a half-century long ban on pickup trucks being parked outside of garages.
Final unofficial vote results from Tuesday night's tallies were 3,193 votes for ending the ban and 1,911 against. That equates to 62.56 percent in favor and 37.44 percent against.
The official wording of the ballot question was:

"Should the Village of Flossmoor consider permitting a Class B truck or van (8,000 pounds or less) or a vehicle with specialty plates of a similar size as a Class B vehicle to park on a residential driveway so long as the vehicle is not used for commercial purposes?"
Though an advisory, non-binding referendum, those who voted "yes" were in favor of allowing pickup trucks to be parked on driveways while those who voted "no" were in favor of keeping an ordinance that was enacted in 1961 intact.

With residents supporting a change, the issue may now be sent to the planning commission for consideration.
