Professional Women's Network's Wine & Words

Professional Women Learn to THINK and to Take Charge of Our Lives ---- Think – Straight Talk for Women to Stay Smart in a Dumbed-Down World by Lisa Bloom will be presented by Jennifer Brosius on April 10, 2014.

This program, hosted by the Professional Women’s Network, will discuss paradoxes that American girls and women are living today, including:
- They are excelling in education at every level but likewise obsessing over
celebrity lifestyles and tabloid media, leaving many of them unable to name a single branch of government—but nearly all of them can name at least one Kardashian.
- They are outperforming their male counterparts in employment in urban areas for the first time in history, yet spending more time and money on their appearances, including electing life-endangering plastic surgery in record-breaking numbers.

This program will outline specific steps to allow women to reclaim their brains, regain focus, and take charge of their lives. By rethinking some common, but outdated, practices women can have more time to breathe and engage their minds. These new found hours can be used more meaningfully by turning away from reality shows and toward compelling and substantive news sites, magazines and books, reconnecting with their communities, and becoming more thoughtful and proactive contributors to local, national and global causes.

Jennifer Brosius is a Certified Public Accountant and has been working in public and corporate accounting for five years. “Women who attend this program will find that they leave with a better understanding of how our culture and the media are negatively affecting women today,” said Ms. Brosius. “The topics that will be discussed apply to women of all ages, in all stages of their careers. The discussion will cause you to wake up and regain focus on the important things in life. You’ll leave feeling inspired and want to talk to your daughter, mother, neighbors and friends about the changes you will make going forward.”

Participants should check in at 5:30pm at Flossmoor Station, 1035 Sterling Ave., Flossmoor. Meeting will take place in the "Pub Room.” PWN members are FREE and non-members are $10. All participants are responsible for their own meals and beverages.
