Registration open for golfers to help Good Shepherd Center

Good Shepherd Center will host the 6th Annual Charity Golf Outing at Ravisloe Country Club in Homewood on Friday, June 13 that will support programs for children with developmental disabilities and their families.

 

The annual event includes 18 holes of golf with cart, continental breakfast, lunch and refreshments on the course, a buffet dinner as well as raffles, auctions featuring sports memorabilia and event tickets, and a nice welcoming gift bag.

The driving range opens at 8:00 am with a shotgun start at 9:00 am. Players have a choice to play their own ball or scramble. Golfers will also enjoy competing in a variety of contests such as the closest to the pin and longest 2nd shot.

Comedian Jimmy McHugh will be the entertainment during the buffet reception and lead the live auction.  McHugh has been dishing out his style of comedy for over 30 years. Born and raised on the Northwest side of Chicago, Jimmy blends a mixture of classic observational humor emphasized with his unique vocal and facial expressions.  He appears at various national comedy clubs and has also been seen on Comedy Central, HBO, MTV, ESPN2 and the Oprah Winfrey Show.

 

Foursomes may enter at a discounted cost of $700 that includes a hole sponsorship.  Individuals may register at a cost of $150. Sponsorship packages are also available to secure your opportunity to play.

Proceeds of the event will ensure local children receive proper early education intervention and local families with a child diagnosed with a developmental disability will receive respite care. 

 

Ravisloe Country Club in Homewood was recently ranked #6 as “Best Courses You Can Play” in Illinois by Golfweek Magazine in March 2014.  Golfers now have the ability to access Ravisloe’s mobile website and use the GPS function.  Ravisloe Country Club was established in 1901 as a private course.  The course was renovated and redesigned between 1917 and 1919 by Donald Ross, who also designed the popular Beverly Country Club in Chicago, as well as many other courses through the United States.  It became a public course in 2009, allowing everyone to enjoy the well positioned bunkers, the rolling hills of the fairways and the Spanish-style architecture of the clubhouse. 

 

Good Shepherd Center for Exceptional Children is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit and was founded in 1963 as a school for children with disabilities and their families. Good Shepherd Center’s mission is to be a community advocate for children and adults, with and without disabilities, provide support, service, and education that empower individuals and families to lead exceptional lives.
