DUI, Illegal Transport of Alcohol
Demond Broughton, 40, of the 1500 block of Schilling Avenue, Chicago Heights, was arrested and charged with aggravated driving under the influence, illegal transportation of alcohol, driving with a revoked license, disobeying a traffic signal and improper lane use after a Feb. 20 traffic stop, according to Homewood police reports.

Broughton was pulled over at about 2:16 a.m. after police saw him run through a red light at the intersection of West 183rd Street and Kedzie Avenue after initially stopping at the signal, the report stated. During the stop, the officer detected an odor of alcohol coming from Broughton, and the driver’s eyes were bloodshot, and his speech was slurred, the report added.
A search of Broughton’s vehicle uncovered an open 200-ml bottle of Bacardi hard liquor and an open 12-oz bottle of Miller High Life beer, the report stated.

FRIDAY, FEB. 19
DUI over .08, Possession of Marijuana
Keiron Wilson, 28, of East 105th Street, Harvey, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol content over the legal limit, possession of marijuana, speeding and failure to dim high beams after a Feb. 19 traffic stop, according to Homewood police reports.
Police clocked Wilson at about 2:43 a.m., going 50 mph in a 30-mph zone while driving northbound in the 18600 block of Dixie Highway, the report stated. Wilson also was traveling with his high beams on, the report added.
During the stop, the officer detected an odor of alcohol on Wilson’s breath, as well noticing that his eyes were bloodshot and glossy, and his speech was slurred, the report stated. A search of his vehicle uncovered a rolled blunt containing 4 grams of a green, leafy substance that field tested as pot, the report added.
Retail Theft
Deandre Crawford, 31, of the 400 block of 89th Place, Chicago, was arrested and charged with retail theft after being accused of shoplifting more than $150 worth of shoes and jeans Feb. 19, according to Homewood police reports.
According to the report, a loss prevention officer for Kohl’s, 17620 Halsted St., observed Crawford take the following items off store shelves and conceal them in his coat:
- a pair of Nike shoes worth $64.99
- a pair of Adidas shoes worth $52
- a pair of jeans worth $34.99

DUI, Texting While Driving
Joseph Doyle, 29, of the 900 block of Somerset Street, New Lenox, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, texting while driving, improper lane use and driving with expired license plates after a Feb. 13 traffic accident in the 1900 block of Dixie Highway, according to Homewood police reports.
