Retail Thefts At Home Depot, Walmart On 1 Day In Homewood: Cops
Homewood police made two arrests for retail theft incidents at the Home Depot and Walmart on Halsted Street on the same day.

HOMEWOOD, IL - Homewood police arrested two people for retail theft in separate incidents at separate stores on one day last week. A 55-year-old man from Markham was charged in connection to an incident at the Home Depot located at 17845 S. Halsted St. and a 27-year-old woman from Homewood was arrested as part of an incident at the Walmart, 17550 S. Halsted.
Steven Hale was charged with retail theft at 3:54 p.m. on Aug. 1, according to a Homewood police bulletin. He is accused of taking items worth $72.68 from the sales area of the Home Depot and presenting them at the customer service desk with a receipt.
Police say he fled on foot when approached by a loss prevention agent but was found shortly after.

Natalie Bywater also faces a retail theft charge from an incident reported to police at 6:22 p.m. that day. According to a police news bulletin, Bywater hid items and passed the final point of purchase at Walmart without making payment for merchandise that had a value of $29.95.
