Sex Offender Caught Breaking Into Car, Cops Say

Police say Moses Evans was caught inside a car that wasn't his near 186th and Ashland after midnight.

HOMEWOOD, IL - A sex offender was caught breaking into a car in Homewood earlier this month, according to a police report.

Moses Evans, 24, of Oak Forest was charged with burglary from motor vehicle and failure to register as a sex offender at 12:52 a.m. on June 9 in the 18600 block of Ashland. Police say he was "removing items from a vehicle and placing them into a bag" when he was caught by officers and detained.

Evans did not have permission to enter the car or remove any property, according to police. He was also in violation of his requirement to register as a sex offender, the report states.

A search of the Illinois Sex Offender Registry did not turn up any offenders named Moses Evans.
