SEX OFFENDER MAP: Homes to Watch Out for in Homewood and Flossmoor This Halloween

More than half a dozen addresses show up on the Illinois Sex Offender Registry in Homewood and Flossmoor.

Registered sex offenders are prohibited from passing out candy on Halloween. They may not appear in a Halloween costume or other child-centered holiday character, such as Santa or the Easter Bunny, in public. Registered sex offenders, however, may wear a Halloween costume in their home, according to the Illinois Sex Offender Registry.

There are at least seven registered sex offenders with addresses in Homewood and Flossmoor in 2014, according to the Illinois Sex Offender Registry.

Pins on the map represent addresses of offenders convicted of sex crimes. Roll your cursor over the pins, and you will see more information pop up, including the registered sex offender’s name, address, convictions, and the age of the offender and victim at the time of the offense. The yellow markers represent sex offenders who are not listed as sexual predators. The red pins are those who are labeled as sexual predators in the registry.

You may want to avoid trick or treating at these houses and apartments on Halloween, or merely be aware of who’s living in your neighborhood during the rest of the year.

Sex offenders are required to register with the authorities for a 10-year period unless a judge has required lifetime registration. Offenders are prohibited from living within 500 feet of a school, day care center, youth center or other facility that caters to children younger than 18 years old.
