FLOSSMOOR, IL — The village of Flossmoor has named its next police chief. It's Tod Kamleiter, the former deputy police chief in the village. Kamleiter, who was deputy chief for six years, officially started in the new role on Monday, filling a five-month vacancy left by the retiring Police Chief Mike Pulec.

Kamleiter, an Air Force veteran who served a combined nine years on active duty and active reserved, has been a police officer in Flossmoor since 1996. He previously worked for the Indiana Department of Corrections.

“My entire career has been geared toward the goal of one day leading the police department,” Kamleiter said. “I have been very fortunate to have been mentored by some outstanding leaders in the department and the village administration during this time. These relationships and professional connections will be a true asset to my new role as the Chief of Police.
