Trustees to Consider Bid for Renovations to Village Hall, Concept Work on Science Center

Homewood officials Tuesday will take a look at plans for a facelift for Village Hall and other work tallying up to $1 million.

Homewood trustees Tuesday will weigh in on projects estimated to cost the village roughly $1 million.

Projects include $510,000 in renovations to Village Hall and $470,000 earmarked for street resurfacing in 2015.

Trustees will also vote on an $80,000 contract with Global Studios, who will help flesh out a plan for a community science center slotted for the former Ryan’s Funeral Home.

The Village went to bid on the Village Hall renovations in January, and Frontier Construction of Willowbrook presented the recommended winning bid of $402,300. Additional updates—furniture, changes to phone and data storage—could tally up to $105,000. The Village will use a surplus in the Intergovernmental Personnel Benefit Cooperative fund and an additional $230,000 balance from a bond.

The board meets Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Village Hall, 2020 Chestnut Rd.
