Village to Consider Purchase of Ryan's Funeral Home Property
The Village would then plan to re-sell the property for development.

Homewood trustees Tuesday will decide whether it will purchase Ryan’s Funeral Home, 18022 Dixie Highway, with the hopes of selling it to a developer.
Trustees’ first choice would be San Francisco’s Science Museum—called the Exploratorium—opening a satellite museum in Homewood.
“This plan is very much in its infancy and we are trying to put together funding from corporate sponsors so we don’t need to tap into our budget for this,” Trustee Anne Colton said in an email. “If we are able to make this happen, Ryan’s would be an ideal location for the Community Science Center (its working name).”

The board is deciding now on the purchase, as the TIF is about to expire, Colton said.
“We need that money to fund it,” she added. “If the Science doesn’t happen, we are confident that we will be able to sell the building for a more traditional business usage.”
