As the Flossmoor Public Works Department continues to assess and clean up the damages caused by Monday’s storm, please be aware that some roads will be limited or closed to traffic. Additionally, those traveling should be prepared for temporary road closures or modified traffic routes throughout the day.

We will continue to update the public as more road closures or road hazards are identified.

Storm Brush Collection

Public Works crews will be mobilized across the community throughout the week to continue cleaning debris and collecting excess brush following Monday’s storm. This will include hanging branches in parkway trees, downed limbs in the street or parkway, and brush set out by homeowners that follow the Village’s brush collection requirements.

Branches must be stacked in a pile on the parkway, with cut ends facing the curb, and placed away from parkway trees, mailboxes, utility poles/boxes, sidewalks, and hydrants.

  1. Maximum diameter: 6 inches
  2. Maximum length: 12 feet
  3. Brush piles should not be bundled in any way (string, twine, wire, zip ties, etc.)
  4. Brush should not be placed in containers
  5. Brush must not overhang into the street or sidewalk
  6. Do not pile higher than 4 feet
  7. Do not pile wider than 20 feet

If you have significant damage to a tree not in the parkway, you will need to call a private contractor, landscaper or tree removal company. Village crews will collect brush that follow these requirements throughout the week, potentially into next.

Reporting Tree Damage

Damage to parkway trees can be reported to the Flossmoor Public Works Department at (708) 957-4100. Any non-parkway tree must be taken care of by a private landscaper or tree removal company.
