Village Sidewalk Replacement Program Expanded
Flossmoor officials are pleased that the village's Sidewalk Replacement Program came in under budget, allowing for more sidewalks to be repaired.

Bids to replace 3,880 square feet of sidewalk in the southern part of the Heather Hill Subdivision came in just about $2,000 under budget, Village of Flossmoor officials said at a meeting Monday, Aug. 15.
The 2012 fiscal year budget included $20,000 for the annual Sidewalk Replacement Program, with an estimated 155 squares of sidewalk slated for removal and replacement.
However, the bid was awarded to Frazier Concrete, Inc. for $18,430.

"It's a lower bid than it was in the past," said Mayor Paul Braun. "We'll be able to replace more sidewalks."
Frazier Concrete has never worked in Flossmoor, but have performed similar projects in Orland HIlls, Alsip, Mount Prospect and Tinley Park, according to a staff memo.

In other business, village trustees unanimously approved a 10-year intergovernmental agreement with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) for traffic signal maintenance at Western Avenue and Flossmoor Road and Dixie Highway and Flossmoor.
The terms of the agreement are similar to an agreement made with the village back in 2001 and was over this year. The new agreement will expire in 2021.
The village will be responsible for reimbursing IDOT for a percentage of maintenance and energy costs.
