Walmart To Close Matteson Facility, More Than 100 Employees To Be Laid Off
The corporation filed notice of the pending closure and layoffs on March 27. Employees were told of the closure in February.
MATTESON, IL — Retailer Walmart will soon close its Matteson facility, impacting more than 100 employees, according to online records.
The corporation filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) on March 2, with the date of closing noted as May 29. The filing says the company will lay off 111 employees with the closure at 21430 S Cicero Ave.
The WARN Act requires employers with 75 employees or more to notify the state when they plan to lay off workers. Under the Act, employers must give workers at least 60 days' notice for a plant closure or a "mass" layoff.
