Village board approves water rate hike, reservoir improvements and installing new meters.

FLOSSMOOR, IL - Residents of Flossmoor can expect to see a hike in their water bill after the new fiscal year begins on May 1.

The village board this week approved a water and sewer rate hike of 36 cents per thousand gallons used, according to a report from the Homewood-Flossmoor Chronicle. A typical water bill in the village will increase by $9.72 each quarter as a result.

The water rate increase was one of three water-related items approved by the village board at their meeting this week. The full village budget was approved and it includes a $1.2 million price tag for replacing residential water meetings in the village. Also, the village will spend $137,000 to repair the reservoir just north of Vollmer Road.
