Alligator Found Under Escalator at O'Hare

The alligator was found by a maintenance worker on the lower level of Terminal 3 Friday morning, according to media reports.

Officials made an unlikely discovery Friday morning at O'Hare Airport when a two-foot long alligator was found under an escalator on the lower level of Terminal 3, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The American alligator, which police officers later named "Allie," was found by a maintenance worker and the 3-year-old gator was later transferred to the Chicago Herpetological Society, the Chicago Tribune reports.

CNN reports an airport worker used a broom and dustpan to capture the 18-inch alligator. The alligator is expected to be treated now after not being properly fed, according to CNN.

CBS 2 reports a Twitter photo has surfaced that appears to be of the alligator and its owner riding the Blue Line and may indicate that is how the alligator got to the airport.

CNN reports a tattoo on the alligator owner's arm in the Twitter photo may help police identify him.
