Business Returns to Huntley

Impact Plastics moving back to town, citing improved access to Interstate 90.

 

Impact Plastics is thinking Huntley First! as the company returns to town with plans to expand its operations and add 15 to 20 new jobs in the next few years.

The company, which recycles plastic and is a wholesaler of industrial refuse contain replacement parts, left the village four years ago but chose to return to take advantage of Huntley’s improved toll way access via the upcoming construction of a as well as the low costs of doing business in town, officials said.

“We are extremely pleased to return to Huntley,” said Scott Leaguer, Impact Plastics president. “The move allows us to not only grow, but do so more efficiently than we could have in other communities.”

Impact Plastics was looking for more space and found Huntley fit the bill with the toll way access and the low costs of doing business in town, officials said.

Operations are scheduled to begin in Huntley by May 1 at its new location, 11419 Smith Drive, approximately one block north of Kreutzer Road. Employees will be transitioning into the new building through the summer.

“The Mayor and staff were very helpful and efficient in assisting us through the entire process and took sincere interest in our company,” Lemajeur said. “For many reasons, bringing our business back to Huntley made sense.”

Impact Plastics, which employs 15 full-time and 5 part-time employees, sees a bright future in Huntley.  With additional space and lower occupancy costs, management foresees the addition of up to 15-20 additional employees in its recycling operations within the next two to three years.  And should the firm’s successes continue, they hope to bring the plastic extrusion process in-house bringing up to 20 additional jobs to Huntley, jobs currently provided by firms located in Wisconsin.

“We believe that as firms understand the significant cost benefits of being located in Huntley along with our highly professional staff and village board that understands the elements of economic development in today’s market, businesses will seek to commit their important resources here,” Mayor Chuck Sass said. “Huntley will benefit from increased employment opportunities, and more diverse tax base.  We’re pleased to have Impact Plastics returning to Huntley.”

Huntley has been reaching out to business and launched an economic development website, Huntley First, to market the village.
