Miguel Rodriguez of Elgin to perform flute recital in Huntley
Rodriguez, a graduate of Larkin High School & Bienen School of Music/Northwestern University, will be attending Carnegie Mellon University.

The popular Artist Series will present a flute recital performed by Miguel Rodriguez of Elgin accompanied by pianist Nathan Canfield at Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church, 10805 Main Street, Huntley, on Sunday, August 2, 2026 at 5:00 pm.
Sponsored by the SOTP Artist Series, the public is invited to attend this free performance. No tickets are required and freewill donations are gratefully accepted.
Rodriguez is a recent graduate of the Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University, where he earned his BM in Music Education and Flute Performance. While at Northwestern, Rodriguez’ primary teachers were John Thorne, Alyce Johnson, and Jennifer Gunn. This flute recital serves a warm “send-off” as in the fall, he will be attending Carnegie Mellon University to pursue a masters degree in Flute Performance.

Rodriguez, a graduate of Larkin High School in Elgin, started his musical journey in fifth grade and after trying out numerous instruments, he felt a strong connection with the flute. He also performed and was placed in the top band of the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra (EYSO).
He serves as a substitute musician with the Rockford, South Bend, Quad-Cities, Elgin and Kansas City Symphonies. Passionate about music education, Rodriguez has spent the last year teaching 5th and 6th grade band to students at Kimball Middle School in Elgin.
