Fire Destroys Barn on Harmony Road

Neighbors alert 911 of Friday night fire and get photos of huge blaze.

Huntley resident Linda Grimes was at home on Harmony Road watching TV when she noticed an orange glow past her double oak trees in the front of her house about 10:30 p.m.

She took a closer look and realized a barn across the street from her Harmony Road home was on fire.

The barn located next to Leggee Elementary School, was in flames and Grimes was concerned about it spreading to the school, she said. No official details were available Saturday.

Firefighters blocked off Harmony Road to work on the fire. Crews left the scene at 2 a.m., Grimes said.

On Saturday, smoke continued rising from the barn.

Ironically, Grimes’s son lives in Colorado Springs and was part of the evacuation notice related to huge fires out west. “All of a sudden, there was a fire here,” she said.
