Gas Station Owner Helps Secure Grant for Huntley School
Leggee Elementary School has received a $500 ExxonMobil Educational Alliance program grant.

Leggee Elementary School has received a $500 grant from the ExxonMobil Educational Alliance program. The grant will be used to support the school’s math and science programs.
James Drendel of the Drendel’s Corner Mobil located at 13280 S. Route 47 in Huntley worked with school officials to secure the grant, which is one of 2,400 available to schools across the country served by Exxon or Mobil stations, according to a District 158 press release. The grants were made possible by funding from the ExxonMobil Corporation.
“(Leggee Principal) Scott Iddings works hard to make learning interesting and fun,” Drendel said in a press release. “As a Mobil retailer, I am proud to help young people of Huntley.”

The ExxonMobil Educational Alliance program is designed to provide Exxon and Mobil retailers with an opportunity to invest in the future of their communities through educational grants to neighborhood schools.
ExxonMobil believes that as members of the community, local retailers are best qualified to work with local educators to help identify schools and programs most in need of support.

Drendel met stringent eligibility criteria before applying for and being awarded this grant, including having a commitment to provide a superior buying experience for customers, according to the news release.
Leggee Elementary School is located at 13723 Harmony Road in Huntley.
