Huntley Hair Cuttery Helping Needy Children with Back-to-School Event

When your child gets a hair cut, it goes to help a needy child in the community.

Hair Cuttery Salon is launching its 12th annual Share A Haircut event Aug. 1 where children receiving a back-to-school haircut at participating salons will be giving one back to a disadvantaged child in the community.

The Huntley Hair Cuttery, located at 12050 Princeton Road, is participating in the event and will donate one free haircut to a child in need in the community for every haircut purchased for a child 18 or younger from Aug. 1-15.

“We expect more than 60,000 haircuts to be donated in communities across the country to children in need,” said Dennis Ratner, Founder and CEO of Hair Cuttery. ”We’re proud to offer this program that gives children the opportunity to help other kids in the community.  A simple haircut can make a big difference in a child’s appearance and gives students more confidence as they start the school year.”

Through partnerships with Adoptions Unlimited, Illinois Department of Human Services and other local government and non-profit social service organizations, vouchers are distributed to local children in need to obtain a free haircut in August. Last year, more than 9,250 haircuts were donated in the Chicago area.

Eight hundred salons nationwide will participate in Share A Haircut. Hair Cuttery has donated more than 560,000 haircuts since the program’s inception in 1999.
