Huntley Man Accused of Murder in Death of His Wife
She was hospitalized Friday after police came to her Longfield Drive home and found her bleeding. She died Monday.

A Huntley woman died Monday after a beating at the hands of her husband, according to McHenry County prosecutors, who charged Edward Hartgraves with first-degree murder on Tuesday.
Hartgraves, 64, is in jail on a $5 million bail.
Huntley Police were called to the Hartgraves home at 10505 Longfield Drive on Friday, March 20, at about 5:30 p.m. and officers found Carol Hartgraves, 63, bleeding from the chin.

Police said Carol Hartgraves was disoriented and could not give a detailed account of how she was injured. Police summoned an ambulance, which took her to Centegra Hospital in Woodstock, where she received six stitches to her chin. Doctors said the bone in her upper arms was also broken.
Edward Hartgraves was taken into custody and charged with two counts of aggravated domestic battery and two counts of domestic battery. Police learned an order of protection in Cook County was in place, and Hartgraves was also charged with violation of an order of protection.

The first-degree murder charges were filed Tuesday after prosecutors learned Carol Hartgraves died as a result of her injuries.
Carol and Edward Hartgraves moved to Huntley from Schaumburg in January 2015, according to a statement from the Huntley Police Department. While residing in Schaumburg, Edward Hartgraves was arrested for battery in November 2014.
Carol Hartgraves had obtained the order of protection on Feb. 2 after she told a judge her husband had threatened her.
