Website Helps Police ID Suspects

Huntley police partner with IDThisPerson.com to post photos in effort to identify suspects.

One guy is on his cell phone. Another guy is holding a cup from a fast food restaurant in his hand. Another guy looks straight into the camera.

Each one is wanted by a police department in Illinois and their photos appear on a website that is helping detectives identity them.

Huntley police have partnered with the website, IDThisPerson.com, to post its own photos of suspects in hopes the public can help detectives with leads.

IDThis Person.com is a website created to assist law enforcement in identifying suspects or persons of interest related to criminal activity, Huntley Deputy Chief Todd Fulton said.

“A lot of times, we’ll go to a specific crime and will have surveillance footage of the offender,” Fulton said. “We get footage but have no idea who it is and we can’t identify them.”

IDThisPerson.com is accessible by citizens who can look at each photo, or photos in other states, to see if they recognize anyone, Fulton said.

The site gives a $25 reward to anyone who can provide information about the suspects, he said. The tips can be anonymous.

Fulton wants to encourage the public to visit the website regularly, which is frequently updated. Huntley police have not yet posted images but will be doing so when cases come up, he said.

“I think it will be very helpful,” Fulton said. “I see it all the time. I see photos come through all the time from other agencies asking for help in identifying people.”

“It’s another tool, another way for citizens to get involved,” Fulton said.
