Huntley Police Blotter: Scam Reported

Huntley police release reports.

A Huntley resident fell victim to a scam involving a fraudulent check, police said.

The victim, of the 12900 block of Tall Grass, told police he cashed a check and sent money to an individual in California but later learned it was a bad check. He reported the incident Feb. 4.

  • Police said someone painted graffiti on the back of a business on the 10900 block of Route 47 on Feb. 2. No further details were released.
  • An iPod Touch, which retails for about $199, was stolen from a student’s backpack at Huntley High School, 13719 Harmony Road, on Feb. 3.
  • A victim reported Feb. 4 that her credit card was used fraudulently at a business in the 13200 block of Route 47, police said.
  • Michael M. Monahan, 47 of 10024 Thornton Way, Huntley, was arrested Feb. 5 on two counts of domestic battery.
  •  Jason B. Sirt, 22, of 11612 Daniel Lane, Unit A, Huntley, was arrested on two Huntley Police Department warrants for theft and was cited with operating a motor vehicle with no insurance on Feb. 6, according to police. Sirt posted bond and was released.
  • A 15-year-old Huntley teen faces a charge of criminal damage to property in a Feb. 6 incident, police said. The juvenile was released to his mother and will attend peer jury.
  • Heather L Gibson, 21, of 9913 Glen Lane, Union, was arrested Feb.6 on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and display of expired registration, police said. Gibson posted bond and was released with a McHenry County court date.
