Officers, K9 Units Search McHenry County Jail
A large scale sweep for contraband at the McHenry County Corrections Facility was aided by K9 units.

The McHenry County Sheriff's Office recently conducted a search of the McHenry County Corrections Facility with K9 units to ensure the safetyΒ and security of the inmates, employees, and the facility.
The search, which resulted in no contraband being found,Β concentrated on the general population housing sections, booking/intake, laundry and multipurpose and exercise rooms while the inmates were not present.
The facility is randomly searched by correctionalΒ officers and sheriffβs K9 units throughout the year. The last search of this magnitude was conducted in 2009.

"Each year, K9 units continuously help each otherΒ out, respond to agencies that do notΒ have a K9 unit on duty, provide assistance in large searches, and help with training each other," saidΒ Undersheriff Andy Zinke. "K9 handlers and the service they provide to the community are invaluable."
The two sheriffβs office K9 units received assistanceΒ from the Bannockburn, Crystal Lake, Spring Grove, Carpentersville, Wauconda, Waukegan,Β Woodstock, and Harvard Police Departments, the Kane County Sheriffβs Office and the Illinois State Police.
