Online Club Discusses Books at Readers Convenience

If your schedule is too full to fit in yet another meeting, consider joining the Huntley Library's Online Book Club. The club doesn’t meet in person, but it takes advantage of a Facebook group for members to discuss books at their own convenience.

“I think that it is a new and exciting way to enrich their minds, and continue reading without the stress or need to read at a specific time,” Doug Cataldo, IT and marketing specialist at the said. “They have the flexibility to fit it in their schedule when they can.”

Members of the club are assigned a book to read every month. The selected book can be of any genre, including anything from fantasy to autobiographies to even locally written books.

The new month’s book title is released in the library’s newsletter, and is posted on the Facebook group at the beginning of every month.

July’s book is A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin, which is the first book in a fantasy series.

“We get selections that are requested from participants,” Cataldo said. “We will do our best to look at the best seller list to choose appropriate titles that people enjoy at the time.”

Typically, the selected book has multiple copies in stock at the so local members can check it out if they please, but members can acquire the books however they choose.
