Police Blotter: Man Charged with DUI, Resisting Arrest

Huntley police release this week's reports.

A 26-year-old Huntley man stopped for a turn signal violation now faces charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and aggravated battery to a police officer, according to reports.

Richard P. Basiak, of 11891 Covey Lane, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood-alcohol level exceeding .08, resisting a peace officer and aggravated battery to a peace officer on May 31, according to police.

Basiak also was cited with a turn-signal violation. He was transported to McHenry County Jail to await bond call.

In other police reports released this week:

• James M. Foster, 37, of 10828 Allegheny Pass, Huntley, was charged with domestic battery and violation of an order of protection on May 30, police said. James was transported to McHenry County Jail to await bond call.

• A motor vehicle burglary report was taken in the 10900 block of Cape Cod Lane on May 30, reports stated. Several items were stolen from inside the vehicle, and the dashboard was damaged.

• Police said Derek H. Maass, 28, of 15916 Lewood Drive, Plainfield, was arrested on charges of  driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood-alcohol level exceeding .08 on May 31. Maass was cited with improper turn signal and improper lane use. He posted bond and was released with a McHenry County court date of July 1.

• A 15-year-old Lake in the Hills boy was arrested on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia at Huntley High School, 13719 Harmony Road, on May 31, police said. The juvenile was released to his mother and will attend peer jury.

• A criminal damage to property report was taken at a business in 11100 block of Church Street on May 31, according to reports. Windows were broken and items inside the building were destroyed.

• Luis H. Barron, 38, of 7411 S. Route 23, Marengo, was arrested on charges of displaying a false insurance card and was cited with operation of an uninsured motor vehicle and failure to signal when required on June 2, police said. Barron posted bond and was released with a McHenry County court date of June 17.

• Someone stole a pedestrian crossing sign near Del Webb Boulevard and Cold Springs Drive on June 2, reports stated.

• A 16-year-old Lake in the Hills girl was arrested on a battery charge at Huntley High School, 13719 Harmony Road on June 2, police said. The juvenile was released to her parents and will attend peer jury.

• A 17-year-old Huntley boy was charged June 3 with retail theft, reports stated. The juvenile was issued a notice to appear in McHenry County court on July 11. No further details were released.

• Jason B. Sirt, 22, of 11612 Daniel, Unit A, Huntley, was arrested on a charge of leaving the scene of a property-damage accident and was cited with improper lane use and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle.  Sirt posted bond and was released with a McHenry County court date of July 1, 2011.

• Wesley J. Eubanks, 19, of 25 Pershing Ave., Lake in the Hills, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and was cited with improper signal on June 5, police said. Eubanks posted bond and was released with a McHenry County court date of July 1.

• A 16-year-old Huntley girl was arrested on a domestic battery charge June 5, police said. The juvenile was released to her parents and will be petitioned to McHenry County juvenile court.
