Police Get Break in Sun City Burglaries

Huntley police continue to ask for community's help in reporting suspicious incidents and/or people.

Huntley police have made a “substantial break” in a series of Sun City burglaries that has led to an investigation into “an organized group of career criminals,” according to an update on the village’s website.

Police have been investigating the group, which has been linked to numerous crimes in the Chicago metro area, the release said.

The ongoing investigation involves a number of different police agencies, according to the release.

. The burglaries prompted police to increase patrols in Sun City and hold a forum with Police Chief John Perkins earlier this year .

Huntley police did not return phone calls Wednesday seeking further details.

However, police reached out to the community through the village website asking residents call 911 if they see any of the following activities:

  • Individuals in the area that appear to be between 25 and 35 years old.
  • Male and females walking in the area who appear out of place.
  • Women wearing large skirts.
  • People carrying small canvas-type bags.
  • Males and females driving slowly in neighborhoods.
  • People who are picked up on the roadway after walking on the sidewalk.
  • Individuals who approach a resident and begin random conversation.
  • People wearing heavier coats in warm weather.
