Shepherd of the Prairie acknowledges park district employees

Community Outreach Ministry provides lunch with appreciation

Members of the Community Outreach Ministry of Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church, located at 10805 Main Street in Huntley, recently reached out to the community to acknowledge members of the Huntley Park District.

Providing lunch for park district employees were Pastor Ryan Mackey, Tara Mackey, outreach committee coordinator and committee members Bob and Carolyn Malm, who delivered lunches to the park district office. “This was just one small, but important, token of appreciation we felt was necessary to thank our local park district,” said Tara Mackey.

“Huntley Park District staff are most appreciative of our relationship with Shepherd of the Prairie Church,” says Scott M. Crowe, CPRE, executive director of the Huntley Park District.

“ When we started our free community walking program, GO Huntley a few years ago, Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church was eager to offer a regular walk at their church to support the community and our initiative. Now the Church is our ‘next door neighbor’ to our newest park in the Fieldstone Subdivision, Shepherd’s Park. We were pleasantly surprised when their outreach coordinator reached out to offer our team lunch in appreciation of all of these joint efforts. Finally, I want to say congratulations to Shepherd of the Prairie on their 25th Anniversary this year of serving the Huntley community.”

The Community Outreach Ministry is active in reaching out to the greater Huntley area. It has previously reached out with gratitude to local police, fire, public works, nurses, teachers, and Grafton Food Pantry volunteers.
