Stingray Bay Sees Successful Season

Hot weather drew in larger crowds than before

If you want one last dip in Stingray Bay, you’d better head there today.

The Huntley Park District’s public pool is closing today for the season after a successful season.

“Overall, it was a good season, a safe season,” said Debbie Kraus, the Huntley Park District’s Recreation Director.

To savor the last hours of the season, pass holders can attend from noon to 6 p.m., and the general public can attend from 12:15 to 6 p.m. today.

The pool’s season was a busy one with all of the hot, dry weather in Huntley this year, Kraus said.

The pool saw more visitors than the previous year, and more pass holders than even before. Because of the heat throughout the season, people still were buying passes late into the season, Kraus said.

On four of the season’s days the pool was at capacity.

This year, the pool also housed 777 students for swim lessons.

And it also was host to the Conference Champion Huntley Stingrays swim team.
